PTY House of Locs is a bi-lingual salon that specializes in starting, styling, and maintaining your Locs using all natural hair care products.
We offer a wide range of services for your Locs including trims, haircuts, styles, henna treatments/coloring, Locs repairs and steam treatments. We also offer styles for special occasions.
ABOUT PTY HOUSE OF LOCS
I chose to name my salon PTY House of Locs because I was born in Panamá and share in the Afro Latino community.
PTY (code for Panamá) House of Locs shows the mixture of the two cultures, the Indigenous (Native) and the African lineage that are within my family. The logo design incorporates the rich colors and art from the Guna and Congo peoples of Panama.
Spanish is the official language of Panama, with English being a common second language used by Afro-Caribbean communities and by many in businesses.
MY STORY
My knowledge of dreadlocks began 20 years ago when I became part of the Rastafari movement. Even though society saw locking your hair as a negative, I proudly continued learning more about dreadlocks and the movement. I proved that knotting your hair was not an obstacle to getting an education or working in a professional field.
When I moved to North Carolina 16 years ago, I found a large population with Locs and started to see dreadlocks more as an artform. I am passionate about what I do and have mastered the art of locking all hair textures from fine to kinky.
